Firefox Download Greyed Out: Reasons and Remedies

When downloading a file, the file download window pops up. The option "Save this file" is automatically selected, which is good. But the OK button is disabled until I hover over it, or for several seconds or something? Sometimes it stays disabled, and sometimes it enabled itself quite quickly. It seems kind of random.

firefox download greyed out

Bottomline is, I want that OK button to be ALWAYS enabled. I want to be able to hit the enter key as soon as the download window pops up. I don't want my browser to make me wait arbitrarily. That's annoying.

I would also like to know why the "Do this from now on" checkbox is disabled. Why can't I make downloads always start right away without that (to me, silly) download window popping up? That's what that checkbox is for, is it not?

security.dialog_enable_delay affects download dialog boxes. you should check the preference in about:config and ensure the value is 1000 (or 0 for no delay) and not something much higher. if this setting is normal, the problem is something else, such as the communication setting up the download is taking long.

The page linked describes how to disable the OK-delay for *installing an extension*, not when downloading a file. The latter one is still bollocks. AT LEAST start downloading the file ahead of clicking the OK button, Firefox! Don't just make me wait until you decide I can click your button.

So what if you download something you didn't mean to? Just delete the bloody file and get on with life. There absolutely no reason, as far as I can see, for a browser to "protect" against accidental downloads.

I have videodownloadhelper add-on installed. Videos downloaded by the help of it cannot be paused. Additionally, my firefox eventually pauses itself in between downloads so I've to right-click on downloading file and select Pause then again right-click and select Resume to proceed with download. But now video downloading is paused and with right-click there Pause option is greyed out simply being unavailable. How do I sort out this strange problem?

And not only with add-on....there is no pause option clickable for any video downloads frrom any site. Just noticed after i posted my question. And yes, download pausing as usual. Have to manually resume.

Hey, i have the same issue and searching for solution on forums since two days, Reset button done but pause remain greyed out.Why there are no solutions.Somebody from Mozilla needs to anser this immediately.

In my case, the problem was not caused by plugins or extensions, because I had the same extensions and plugins installed in 25.0.1 and 26.0( and 27.0) versions. Yet, I could only pause downloads in 25.0.1

Browsers display disabled form controls greyed as disabled form controls are immutable, won't receive focus or any browsing events, like mouse clicks or focus-related ones, and aren't submitted with the form.

When form controls are disabled, many browsers will display them in a lighter, greyed-out color by default. Here are examples of a disabled checkbox, radio button, and , as well as some form controls that are disabled via the disabled attribute set on the ancestor element. The s are disabled, but the itself is not. We could have disable the entire by adding the attribute to that element rather than its descendants.

I just migrated to a new desktop running Windows 10. I've just installed new versions of Firefox and 1Password. The 1Password icon in the Firefox toolbar is greyed out. When I go to a website, the small 1P icon does not appear in the username box. When I run the extension, I can pull up a login and 1P can take me to the correct page and fill in the username/password. I've tried Chrome and the behavior is the same. I have restarted 1Password and the browser multiple times. I've also restarted the computer several times without success.

It sounds as if you were using 1Password X before. The extension you have installed at the moment I refer to as the companion extension. It requires either 1Password for Mac or 1Password for Windows and it has no UI (User Interface) of its own. That's why there's no icon in the field. 1Password X is a standalone extension initially built to add support for ChromeOS and Linux, platforms where we don't have a native client. As a result it has to supply its own UI and part of that is the inline menu. If you remove the companion extension and install the 1Password X extension I think things will be as you remember them. You can find download links for both extensions on our "Downloads - 1Password" page. If you run into any difficulties please let us know.

@Samuel VuorelaThank you very much for this info!Suddenly my firefox browser disabled ALL add-ons, and I realized it when a webpage that I frequently visit suddenly displaying all kinds of adds. This really sucks. And, I tried sending studies and whatever it is but to no avail.Time to switch to Chrome or Opera

I was on 66.0.4 and studies were NOT applied -US/firefox/addon/enhancer-for-youtube/ -US/firefox/addon/google-shortcuts-all-google-se/NOT WORKINGRest of past not working add-ons WORKING 2ff7e9595c
